Post-rebuild weirdness

Jun 08, 2005 1 Replies

I'm writing this time on behalf of my partner who works at a construction company and uses QB2005Pro, UK version.

A couple of days ago she had a problem that required a rebuild to fix. She did that, and it seemed to solve the original problem, but since then strange things are going on.

"Admin" can log in, but the two named users, call them "Alice" and "Bob", are told that their passwords are incorrect and are unable to login. Why might this happen, can it be fixed, and if not could she simply delete the users (as "Admin" of course) and recreate them with new passwords?

She also seems to have two new company files that have appeared from somewhere called, say, "Company Name Alice.QBW" and "Company Name Alice2.QBW". Would these be artifacts of the rebuild, and can they safely be removed?

I'm getting this info second hand, so if the details are inaccurate I apologise in advance! Any advice gratefully received!

Yes I'm following up my own post, but maybe it'll save anyone doing unnecessary research!

Turns out that in the meantime, her boss had changed the user passwords and not told her. Then gone on leave. Doh! Fixed by deleting the users and re-creating.

These appear to be related to a recent power outage (that necessitated the rebuild). She backed them up somewhere and then deleted them and everything still appears to function as it should.

Ho hum...
