QB2005 Canada - Date format

I have my Windows short date format set to dd/mm/yyyy e.g. 26/07/2005

I recently had a cheque dated 08/07/2005 (8 July) refused by the bank because "it is post dated".

QB help says that QB follows the Windows date format, so I went into control panel and changed the short format to dd/mmm/yyyy (08/Jul/2005). Excel and Word pick this up as the default date format, but QB still stubbornly sticks to dd/mm/yyyy. I can't even change it manually when I enter the cheque. Even a reboot didn't help.

Can anyone give me any help on how to fix this.

Thanks

Although Windows allows you to use dd/mmm/yyyy (correct format would actually be dd/Mmm/yyyy), some programs such as QB (it's not the only one) will not recognize it - it's not "short" enough. There is no solution in Windows or QB. However, in the very near future, Canadian cheque standards will require that all cheques display the format underneath the date. When you next order cheques, ensure that you specify the format dd/mm/yyyy; this will be printed on the cheques and will solve your problem.

26/07/2005
