Do I have to buy a new version every year? I know with some Intuit programs you have to buy new versions every year. If I buy QB 2005 can I still use it in 2007?

It turns out you don't have to renew although they will stop sending updates after 3 years.
You can use QB forever unless you purchase the payroll subscription (which I think is not provided for versions more than 3 years old) or certain on-line functions, which I don't use anyway.
If you version is working properly, why would you want to update? Intuit has a bad habit of messing with properly working versions of programs with their updates.

Good to know - thanks
I didn't renew for many years, but when the IRS changed the 1099 form, I had no choice.
I try to avoid upgrading because with each upgrade this software gets slower and slower to load and run.
I let myself be talked into upgrading to
2005 when I reorderd checks - you guessed it-- slower that ever."boe" wrote in message news: snipped-for-privacy@comcast.com...
Depends on how many Forms 1099 you need to complete. Doesn't the IRS have a fill-in PDF version on their Web site? if not, the payroll module from Medlin Accounting will do 1099's and all other forms for $45 per year.

Well, don't reorder checks.
