Quickbooks address report

Dec 07, 2005 13 Replies

I find Quickbooks VERY frustrating, and it is definitely a misnomer! There is nothing quick about it. All I want is an address list on customers so I can verify/correct addresses. I ran the report, with Customer name, address line 1, address line 2, City, Province, Postal Code, Country. This is fine.... However, sometimes there is no address in line 1 or line 2 field in the report. This is what I want to correct - I need to put itin. So I double click on that entry, and it brings up the edit customer box and the address IS there - in the Bill to box, where I would expect it to be. And if I go into address details, it is there as well. So why does it not show in my report? Also, sometimes the address isn't there -so I add it, but it still does not show on my report. However, if I edit, in edit customer box, fields that DO show up, these changes DO appear in my report.

Anyone got any ideas on what is wrong?

Thanks, Bevin B.

Modify the report and add in "bill To"

Perhaps you should call it TrickBooks.

You're now the Quickbooks Cheerleader Troll.

I've seen something similar with QB 2003 not accepting addresses for

1099 vendors from a specific number of States. It's a stupid bug. The only hope is an updated release for your version unless someone else has a solution for this.

I'd ask you to call QB tech support but I don't wish anything detrimental for your health.

Well if it is a bug I pretty sure after Intuit resolves any issues with version 2006 they will get back to work on creating patches for version

2003.

The bug I saw was in 2003, doofus, not the one in the OP's version.

The OP may be using 2005 and there may be a release available that he has not aware of that fixed the problem.

Go suck on some Intuit product manager's appendage and then cheer for the priviledge before you respond again to any of my posts, moron.

Well, I figured it out last night, and it is STUPID!

- The name of the customer has to appear in the top line of the address details screen

- Putting the name of the customer in the top line of the Bill To address doesn't add it to the address details screen

- in essence, you have to put the name in twice

It sounds like a similar issue with 1099 addresses that I've seen. The glue-sniffer that wrote the code for this was on a glue-sniffing break and could not concentrate on his work it seems.

Wait for the cheerleader now to come by and extol the virtues of why it should be this way because Intuit, his Master, always knows better, otherwise you should buy a $10,000 program if you were expecting address fields to work in a reasonable way.

Give me a break. By default when adding a new customer the customer name automatically gets put in the address. The abiltiy to change the name in the address box is a feature required by many users.

Also the customer need not be the same as the customer name. For example many users prefer to use codes rather than actual names. For example:

Customer: AMC01 Customer name: Allan Martin, CPA

I know. That's not the issue.

There is or there was a bug involving the field contents in the customer address and the ones in the address details. The one I had problems with was fixed but the one the OP described sounded similar.

I've seen another one where addresses dont' show on reports but I don't remember details... I stopped keeping track of them for such a lousy program.

Problems that get fixed and most do get fixed, are not my concern.
