ANyone know where I can find a tutorial on the web for setting up your business in quickbooks from the ground up? I called an accountant and they're all busy! Thanks,

Quickbooks has a wizard that walks you through creation of the basics. You tell QB what type of business you have and it will offer you a chart of accounts for that business. You can customize by adding, deleting, inactivating or modifying accounts later.

Quickbooks will ask you questions about whether or not you use inventory, finance charges, statements, etc.

You may not get everything perfect upon setup but then I doubt anyone really does. By selecting the correct industry and answering the questions honestly you'll have done well enough for any accountant to work through at tax time. Said person can then offer you modification suggestions.

They were very helpful in getting me started with QB Pro initially and have answered several questions since the initial consultation. Feel free to e-mail me if you have questions.

The advantages of getting an expert to help get one launched are great so keep trying to find one. It will save you a lot of time and you'll get a correctly setup system.

I tried setting up using the setup wizard and manual that came with QB and I abandoned the attempt twice when I couldn't make head or tail of some of the instructions or couldn't find anything on points relevant to what I needed. Only on the third attempt did I finally succeed. This was several years ago and I don't know if the online help and manual are any better now.

If you do try to do the setup yourself, there are industry specific instructions which you should read first.
