Virtual Credit Cards With Download to Quickbooks

Mar 22, 2008 4 Replies

Some credit cards now have an option to create "virtual" credit cards, which are only good for particular vendors one-time or repeatedly. This greatly lowers the risk from theft of a card since the number cannot be re-used by any other vendor.

Does anyone know of a bank with a business card (one card per employee) that has support for both "virtual" cards as well as the ability to download charges automatically into Quickbooks. I need a real-time download directly to Quickbooks and will NOT use a card that requires me to dump data into a transfer file and then manually import that to Quickbooks.

What a great source of data for the card company: a real-time update initiated by the consumer as to how much they plan to spend, how soon, and with whom.

So it's a win win for both the user and the credit card company.... It also improves security for the credit card company (fewer chargebacks) which greatly lowers their costs. So why don't more do it?!

Because its a pain in the ass to use.

Here's a half-answer to your question: I used MBNA like that for years until they were bought out by Bank of America, at which time their service went down the tubes so I don't use them any more.

You set the limit and the expiration date. They generated a card number for one-time use.
