2001 date problem

I have used 2001 for the same purpose for years, budgeting for a kitchen for a school year.

My entries ended on 3/12/06 when we went for Spring break. Returned on 3/27 and added an item to a banking account "vendors" and it disappeared. Checked the memorized report for that vendor and the entry had been placed in the middle of February. Entered a few more items and some were placed in January etc. The entire date column is now out of order in this one Banking account. The rest of them "petty cash" etc. are OK.

Is this file corrupted beyond repair, tried to restore from my back from

3/12 and still have the same problem.

All of the files and information are on my desktop at home, and just tried entering some items there, and all was OK.

Any ideas beyond a uninstall and move my files from the desktop to laptop (the one with the problem).

Thanks Bob

When you say the transactions were "placed in the middle of February", are you saying their transaction dates were changed to having "2" as the month? In which case you have a problem.

Or are you saying the transactions with March transaction dates appeared mixed in with transactions with February dates. If the latter just click on the heading of the date column (probably labelled "Date) to sequence your register by transaction date. (Before you do that, look to see if one of the heading in another column is displayed in bold type or has some unique indicator alongside the description ... that would be the column the register is currently sorted by).

Wow is my face red. Been using this since new, and never hit the heading on a column before. I was sorting by number, problem solved.

Thank you soooooo much.

Bob - Another thing you might wish to investigate is the drop down sorting selection under 'VIEW' that appears on the upper right of the Q transaction register. It allows you to see many different sorts of the register, not just 'date' - in fact, there are two ways of viewing 'date' in that panel (Date by Amount, Date by Order Entered) along with sorts like cleared status, amount, payee, check number, etc. Some are identical to clicking on the column headings as John pointed out, but some others are unique in the list.

This is just a pointer to some other, relevant, function you might not be aware of. (I love looking at SORT by amount, since you get to see how much you put in total before all the deductions (that are negative, sort at the bottom) kick in!

Thanks for the tip. In Q2001 that is in the options menu. I keep trying to use the new versions, but I like the layout of 2001 with register and all my quicktabs on the left side. I do not do any online banking etc. Simply keeping track of my kitchen budget during the school year.

I have spent a couple of years getting it the way I like it, and when I import to a new version, what a mess. I guess it is the "old dog, new trick" LOL

Maybe this summer, I will give Q2006 a try again.

Hi, Andrew - and Bob.

Better check the System Date on your computers! Andrew's post arrived here this morning, 3/30/07, but the header says it was sent: Date: Sat, 1 Apr 2006 08:59:03 -0500

And, surprisingly, Leanin' Cedar's latest reply ALSO is shown as Sent on April 1, 2007. That's still two days in the future, here in Texas. :>(

Or is this just your premature April Fool joke? ;^}

Hi, Andrew - and Bob.

Ignore my latest post!

Now MY face is RED! After sending that, I realized that I'm reading year-old posts! Those messages are from 2006!

Sorry about the panic. No, I wasn't playing April Fool. I just wasn't paying attention.

Too late RC! I started looking at my clock settings and such after I read the first one, not your second! :-)

No problem - with all the DST items going around (my GPS is wacky as are others....) it wouldn't have surprized me

('wacky' in the sense that Garmin didn't put out a patch for al their GPS products and many people are having "issues"....). But that's a different forum issue....
