Allowable SE Health Insurance

Is there anyway to get the tax planner to pull the health insurance amount from my transactions? I see the item in the adjustments to income window, but I don't see a tax line item that corresponds.

Any ideas, so I can avoid manually typing it in again?

Thanks, Mark

I'm employed in the coporate world & health ins. premiums come straight off of my W-2, so I'm not familiar w/ Self Employment health insurance.

I do know you'll have to assign the deductible portion to a category & have the appropriate tax line item assigned to that category.

To pick the correct tax line item, I'd suggest determining what IRS form it will show up on. That's generally how the tax line items are listed.

Thanks - That is the problem. Quicken does not have a tax line for it. Well, the planner has it, but there is no way to associate a category to the item. If you look at the planner, there is a line for the Allowable SE Health Insurance - click the line and then click the change link. You'll see there are no choices allowed.

Gotcha. pulled up '05 1040. Appears to go on line 29.

Agree that there doesn't appear to be a corresponding tax line item & that the software doesn't appear to provide for creating new tax line items.

However, if all you're looking to do is have it give you an estimate of taxes, it's in the adjustments to income section, very near Alimony.

I'd just use: Form 1040:Alimony paid

It won't be technically correct, but it's about as close as the software will allow you to get.
