Cash Manager 2008 vs Home & Business 2008

Our current financial information is stored in Quicken 2005 XG.

In Q2K5XG we had some investment accounts, mostly RRSP and Employee share purchase plans. We never could figure out what Q2K5XG could do with this information. It didn't provide any useful information at all.

We also had the same problem with the Mortgage. We set our home and mortgage up, but payments to the mortgage didn't seem to do anything with the mortgage account. It's never been correct. The help is pretty much useless.

Now we have purchased Quicken Cash Manager 2008. It won't import the old Q2K5XG data file because we have hidden accounts and investment accounts. I'm now trying to set up QCM2K8 fresh and I'm still perplexed as to what to do with the mortgage. I also wonder if there is anything I should do (or even CAN do) to track our investment transactions.

Quicken Home & Business 2008 can track business data (which we don't need) and investments. Does this actually provide any USEFUL information? QCM2K8 cost $40. QH&B2K8 is $100. Is it worth an extra $60 just to have a couple accounts marked as "investments".

Q2K5XG didn't provide ANY useful functionality for our investments. In QCM2K8, Couldn't I just add an accounts for each of our investments, and have investment payments put into these accounts?

It was my idea back in 2004 to have my wife use Quicken instead of an Excel spreadsheet to track expenses and it's proving to be more of a hassle than it's worth.

Help?!?
