Chanced Member Number

Aug 12, 2011 5 Replies

I recently had to change my Member Number at my FAA Credit Union. I have not figured how to connect the new account information with the old in my Quicken 2011 Premier.

Nothing else was changed with these accounts other than the Member Number. Since this identifies the account and authorizes me to log on, it is a serious matter.

I would like to merge the data I have on my computer from these same accounts (Checking, Savings, CDs, etc.) but all I've been able to do is log on with the old member number to view the old information, then log off and log on again using the new member number. All the data seems to be in place and there are no problems here. How can I merge the two sets of accounts so I can do my Tax work and things like that?

Thanks for any help or suggestions. Gordon

You should first deactivate downloading ("Remove from One Step Update", or "Remove Connection") for the old Quicken accounts. See the "Online Services" tab in the "Edit Account Details" dialog for the accounts.

Once that is done, you should be able to reactivate the old accounts for downloading, using the new member number. Reactivating one account should reactivate all deactivated accounts that are connected to the same logon.

John, I've been away over the weekend and just got back onto this set of problems. I can not locate the "Remove From One Step Update," "Remove Connection" "Online Services" or the "Edit Account Details" tabs you mention.

How would these tabs/functions be labeled in my version?

I'm using Quicken 2011 Premier. Is this the same version you had in mind concerning these tabs?

There's an "Edit Account Details" button on the "Account Overview" for an account. Accessed from the "Account Actions" drop down.

You can go more directly to the "Edit Account Details" dialog ... also from the "Account Actions" drop down.

I still can't find these drop downs. I did find something under Tools

Can I delete the old account numbers here for each account then replace them with the new account numbers? Or, would this really mess things up?

Gordon

Clicking the "Edit" button on an account in the Account List is one more way to get to the Edit Account Details dialog. The "Online Services" tab in the Edit Account Details dialog is where you activate/deactivate downloading.

You probably can't modify the account number for an account that is activated for downloading.

And you probably don't need to modify the account number, if you are activating an account for downloading ... when you supply the proper credentials to logon to the real-world account, the financial institution should return the appropriate routing number, account number, etc. to Quicken.
