Hi Jerry - well, my last post of this issue - it was fun. There really is only ONE credit score in MNSHO that counts; the FICO score. As far as I can tell, all these others ones are marketing fluff, and FICO is really (perhaps not as much now, but I don't really know) the only one that is seriously used by credit authorizers.
Of course my 'rules' are just one man's opinions.

There are 3 Credit Reporting Agencies, Equifax, Experian & TransUnion. Creditors can calculate a FICO score using information from any, or all 3. Mortgagers usually calculate all 3 FICO Mortgage scores, and use the middle one.
The FICO algorithm underwent major revisions in 1998, 2004 & 2008. The general TU FICO from myFICO is 1998. The general Equifax FICO from myFICO is 2004. The general Experian FICO from Walmart is 2008.
Then there are Mortgage-enhanced, Auto-enhanced, Bankcard-enhanced, Insurance-enhanced versions, etc. So, there are hundreds of different variations of the "real" FICO score.

To maximize rewards, of course! :-)
I shop at Amazon a lot, so I have the Amazon Rewards card. I only use it for Amazon purchases (3% back). Then I have the Freedom Rewards VISA, which I only use for the 5% rotating categories. And then I have my main card, the Chase Rewards VISA that pays 3% on gas, groceries and a few other categories I can't remember. Most people who had these cards were converted to the Freedom card a while back, but mine wasn't. Don't know why, but I suppose it might be because I use it so much. You see, I charge everything I possibly can, and then I pay the full balances monthly. That way I minimize dealing with cash and checks, and I only have these few CC transactions that I initiate from Chase's web site. Utilities, etc. automatically pull from these cards, so if I have an issue with auto-payments, Chase will (hopefully) go to bat for me. I only have a few auto-transactions that pull from my credit union checking account such as car and home insurance and my mortgage.
I used to have the Chase Rewards VISA and a couple rewards cards at Citi, but I closed the Citi accounts and got Chase cards a year or so ago after I tired of having to constantly get new cards and deal with Citi's inept fraud department.
So you see, there *is* method to my madness. ;-)

Margaret

Makes sense to me, Margaret! I seldom use checks or cash, even using VISA for $2 purchases!!. Paying off the whole balance, every month, naturally. I'd use cash, though, for, uh, "under the table stuff", such as "deeply" discounted work done by tradespeople. I make no apologies for doing this--whether or not they declare the income is NOT my business. It's not MY business to help the tax authorities in any way, shape, or fashion.

Interestingly, my Chase downloads stopped working yesterday (the 28th) and still aren't working. Chase says it must be something on my end. Since everything else downloads fine, I'm thinking it's on their end. Waiting until after the "upgrade" to see if it starts working again.

The update is scheduled to happen from 11pm Friday, November 11th through
11am Sunday the 13th. We'll see. Deb

I finally got my Chase downloads after a few tries this morning. OSU only gave errors. Then using the account actions button, the update now option worked for checking, saving, and Amazon Visa. For the Freedom Visa, I had to kill the download setup in the account details, then download a QFX file from the chase website. At least now the Quicken accounts jibe with the website. This is getting frigging ridiculous.
NOTE: Chase has forced me to use web connect, rather than direct connect because for that they want $9.95/mo, despite my retirement and heloc accounts.

I haven't dug back through the thread to see if you've tried this, but I've found that I often see a single FI stop working with OSU, but if I go to that account and initiate a download for that account, it works. From that point on, OSU works as well.

Have you tried Customer Center-Reference Center-Activate Quicken, Quickbooks, etc. on the Chase credit card web site?

This downloads a QFX file (not OFX) to my machine and executing it downloads the latest data, PLUS it somehow starts a webconnect setup of the account. This may work a few times, then it breaks again, and I have to kill the web connect in the account details in Quicken, and start over.
This s*1t is annoying me ...

Thanks, Robert. Please see my answer to Bob Wang, a minute ago. It works once or maybe twice, then breaks again, for my Chase Freedom account.

Was without power for 24 hours here in Fair Lawn, NJ. I haven't asked after I was told that it probably was in the fine print in one of the statements I receive electronically. But I do plan on going to the local office and being a real pain sometime soon.

Agreed. Hell will freeze over before I pay for downloaded financial data, music, literature, or pretty much anything else!!

That was the first thing I tried .. downloads from site just fine, but still no luck on either credit card using OSU. Calling was useless (just walked me through the usual steps), so basically stopping using their cards until after the upgrade. If they still don't work after that, they just won't get used.

I just got mine today, 31OCT11.
As for the $9.95 DirectConnect charge, it's been a charge for several years. Some of us are fortunate enough to be grandfathered, but they've tried to stick me with it several times. Each time it takes several calls/cycles to get it to stop.
I dread the day when I can't get free DirectConnect. I fear the day is coming. ;-(

As I recently said, "Hell will freeze over before I pay for downloaded financial data, music, ring tones...whatever".

Yes, I've seen the mention of the charge on Chase's web site where we activate DD on our accounts. I guess I was grandfathered, as I've never been charged ... yet. Now that I think about it, I do recall some confusion years ago (re the mo fee) when one of my credit cards was moved to Chase and I activated DD.

Oh, sorry about that long outage!
Yes, do go and be a big PITA. I know banks have to pay a licensing fee to Intuit, but ~$10/mo? Seems to me this charge is excessive.
Take good care, Han!

I tried twice to get aprroval for a Chase-Marathon card so I could enjoy
5% off my gas purchases. (I first called to insure my grandfathered status would apply to DirectConnect.) Each of the two times I was turned down because (paraphrased: we don't think this makes economic sense for us). I have excellent credit, and never run a balance, so I can see their standpoint; although I was disappointed.
So I had my wife apply for the same card, and linked it to our joint checking account. When the fee's started to appears, I called, and after several times they quit charging me - errrrrrr charging her. ;-)
After all that trouble, they split their arrangement with Marathon, making the gas benny much less desirable.
Now, I use PedFed for 5% off gas, and the Chase card sleeps in my safe. ;-)
I'm beginning to think all these freebies are on the way out. Thanks to our dumbass politicians.....
