Chase Post-Upgrade: Grrr!

OL-297-A

I realize others have been struggling with Chase direct download, but it's been working just fine for me for a long time. Since Chase's upgrade the web site works fine, but direct downloads now fail repeatedly.

All my other accounts at several financial institutions are downloading just fine, so it's most likely a server outage at Chase. (Quicken's error description for OL-297-A confirms my supposition.)

I went to Chase's customer service page thinking there might be a notice regarding the direct download failure, but no. All I see is the link to "Activate Quicken, Quickbooks, Etc." So I clicked it. I received the this inspiring message:

"Thank you for activating your Quicken® service. You can now log on and download account information using your Quicken® or other financial management software."

Unfortunately direct downloads still fail with the same OL-297-A error.

Grrrrr. Is direct download for Chase working for others out there?

Margaret

I finally broke down and called Chase's online banking support:

1-877-242-7372 (option 3) If you get into a loop because you don't have a telephone banking PIN, press 0. (It worked for me!) :-)

I ultimately spoke with a rep who was aware of the problem and said they hoped to have direct download working by noon today. (EST?)

I also suggested that posting a notice related to this service outage would be very helpful. She agreed and wearily said she'd been on the phone all morning regarding Quicken download failure complaints.

Anyway, fingers crossed they get this working soon. I thought I'd post this here to save readers having to call Chase. ... Unless you just want to rattle cages, that is. ;-)

You're very welcome Arnie! I just realized it was after noon, so I just ran OSU. I'm sad to report that Chase's direct download is still broken. Sigh....

I guess I'll try again tomorrow. :-)

I've never understood why companies, when having problems such as this,

*DON'T* post some type of "we're currently having problems" message.

To me, bad news is better than no news... At least we're aware that they're aware!

Same, over here. It looks as though their scheduled maintenance took a bit longer than expected.

*Expect* the unexpected!

FWIW, my family has two different Chase card accounts. We made payments on one on 10/31 and on the second on 11/7. Both payments showed up as debits at our bank checking accounts and as credits on the Chase web site. No problem.

Neither one of the payments showed as credits in Quicken 2011 OSU however, both showed as debits in Quicken checking accounts. I repeated the OSU just for the Chase accounts today but still no credit in Quicken. I have entered the amounts manually in the Chase account ledgers but hope I don't have to do that next month.

As this happened to anyone else or was it just me?

I am also having problems with Chase OSU. Chase tech support is les than helpful. May be time to find another bank. I have check/deposit items that were cleared back as far a 11/18 that have not been updated in Quicken. My OSU summary report shows a successful update as of 11/24 at 7:06am. The online balance is also not updated.

The last time that I got an update is when I removed all 6 Chase accounts from OSU and re-established them. Manual downloads also work.

Just updated TGD morning. I always do this while having the bank's website open, to double-check. First time OSU did NOT pick up any newly cleared Txns (I had all previous Txns cleared (I think)). Then an update from the account Actions button brought the new Txns in. Really annoying to have to do the update twice. There are a few TXns that have cleared but never downloaded properly so I do NOT have the posting date for those. Q12 can show a column with posting dates next to the data entry date. This is new for Q12 (or maybe Q11??).

I have not had problems with Chase OSU/downloads. But since we're on a subject, want to pointed out that the other bank of mine (M&I) has a tendency to skip/forget some transactions during OSU with Q11. Have to search for and manually enter unrecorded transactions in order to match the balances.

Posting date is an option in 2011.
