QD2012 Reconciliation Bug

There's a bug in auto-reconciliation after downloading and accepting transactions. I've noticed this repeatedly when I attempt to reconcile my three Chase credit card accounts.

When there's a discrepancy in the register and online amounts after a download, instead of seeing the reconcile window where I can check (and uncheck) charges and payments, Quicken greys out the reconcile window and displays this message:

"Do you want to close the Reconcile windows without saving your work? To save your work, click 'No' here and click 'Finish Later' in the Reconcile window."

When I click No, Q displays the same window again. When I click No a second time, Q finally displays the Reconcile window. When I click Done (and if the totals still don't balance), I finally see the message that offers to create a balance adjustment transaction.

For some reason, Chase credit card transactions post several hours prior to the account balance being adjusted, so I've always had to allow Q to enter an adjustment balance (which I then delete). In Q2011, I would immediately see the Reconcile window. With Q2012, Q displays the aforementioned message *twice* before finally displaying the Reconcile window.

Now if Chase updated the account balance as transactions posted for download, I'd never have known about this bug. But I do a daily download, so I see this bug every day that transactions post.

Just thought I'd mention it here, but I'll be submitting this bug to Intuit.

Regards,

Margaret

I'm having difficulties with Chase too, but I blame Chase. I was using Q11, now using Q12. The problems predate the switch. I'm having a fight with Chase to keep downloads free - they want to charge $10/mo, but my combined accounts should get me free and they don't want to do that anymore. In response, I'm using other credit cards now.

My Chase-managed Amazon Visa doesn't download at all, except to a new account, and I have to start that from the Chase website. I'll be calling them about that. I propbably have to "disconnect" all online services for all my Chase accounts first. My direct Chase Visa Freedom I haven't been using for a while, so we will see exactly what's going on with that later. AFAICT Chase has been having difficulties with balances for close to a month now, if not longer. Therefore, I will npot really rely on the balances on the website, but make sure that all transactions on the website have corresponding entries in Quicken.

One thing I am noting with Q12 is that Driect Connect (and webconnect?) downloads take longer than I remember.

Another unique thing about Chase credit cards is that transactions post at least twice a day. IOW, when I download in the evening, new postings since the morning are downloadable.

Hmmm, my Chase Freedom and Amazon VISA as well as my Chase Rewards VISA all download just fine. And fortunately Chase is not attempting to charge me for direct downloads. And Bob, yes, I get multiple downloads from Chase daily.

Right now Chase's cards are the only ones I use, as the rewards are better than other cards. I closed all my Citi accounts, as I got tired of continually getting new cards (and numbers) and having to deal with their incompetent fraud department.

The reconcile problem I'm having did not occur with Q2011.

I have been having problems with Chase credit cards for the last couple of months. Downloaded data is missing transactions. I'm using Q2011 Premier. It's not just with credit cards. My checking and savings also have missing transactions. I have reported the problem to Chase with no results.
