EWC+ and Chase

I am now being prompted to update (reauthorize) my connection method to EWC+ with Chase when do a One Step Update in Quicken. I have just one Chase account, which is a credit card account, which is currently using Direct Connect.

FWIW, I'm using the latest subscription version of Quicken Premiere for Windows (R43.14) on Windows 11 Home.

Ok, I follow the steps as directed, but when I get to the Quicken screen where I have to add or link the Chase credit card account, I am a bit confused as to what to do. What I want to do is to link to my existing Chase account, but when I click on the link option, it does not list my existing Chase account to link to. It does list 4 other accounts, none of which are the existing Chase account.

Am I wrong in trying to link to existing Chase account in this situation? If I choose to 'add' the account, then I think I will end up with 2 Chase accounts, which doesn't seem correct.

Does anyone have any insight as to what I should expect to happen in this case?

I have declined to finish the conversion both times I tried it, so I am still on Direct Connect for that account (and it's still working)

My guess is that Chase is presenting different types of accounts and not credit cards. For example, if the link drop down lists savings or checking accounts, that's probably it. I would wait a few days and try again. If it persists, contact Quicken support, Chase support or both to figure out why it's not picking up your credit card. I suspect this will be happening to me soon since I have multiple Chase credit card accounts. I'll let you know what happens here.

Thanks. It does pick up the correct Chase credit card account from Chase (the correct last 4 digits of the account number show up etc) , and that account shows up on the Quicken screen where I am asked to 'add' or 'link' that account into Quicken. It is there where I am not sure what to do. I want to link it to my existing Chase account in Quicken, but that existing Quicken account is not listed as an option to link to.

I could chose the 'add' option, but I don't think that's the correct choice, since I have changed connection methods in the past with other accounts, and always linked to the existing account in this situation with good results. But that option is simply not available in this case for whatever reason.

Same for me except that I run Windows 11 Pro.

No, you're not wrong. That's what you have to do. The instructions are very poor.

Yes, that's what will happen, and yes, that's not correct.

I just went through this, spending 45 minutes on the phone with a Chase tech, who couldn't me by herself and had to escalate the problem.

It's fine now

That's exactly the problem I had, and unfortunately I can't remember the rather complicated solution I got on the phone from the Chase tech.

If nobody here can tell you how to fix it, call Chase, as I did.

FWIW, I, too, just this week had the Chase pop-up and also had the issue of my existing account not listed on the Link-To List. I chose Don't Link, went into my account and deactivated then Setup and my acct then was on the Link List and had been chosen. I'm good to go. Geo.

Thanks very much! Much appreciated! I did the same steps as you, and it worked just fine, and the connection method for Chase now says "Express Web Connect+", and so far it looks like it's working as it should.

Just a note to others who may run into this: After I deactivated the Chase credit card account in Quicken, and then chose Setup......when I got to the Quicken "Link To" screen, it had already pre-selected the existing Chase account in Quicken to link to. All I needed to do then was to click on Next.

Thanks very much for the response. I got it working by following the suggestions of Geo Salisbury (see my response to him), which is likely how you did it also.

I could have tried Quicken Support also, but I suspected that the answer wasn't all that complicated, and I could get it here a lot quicker.....and I was right.

Good to hear. I suspect that if the account is already online activated with another service type, it won't show up to link. So the steps should be?

1) Deactivate all chase accounts 2) Online activate one chase account which should list all of them and allow you to link to all

I'm still direct connected so I don't want to try this out yet...

Thanks, John
