Convert QuickBooks data to Quicken

Quickebooks provide for data conversion from Quicken, but the reverse is not possible.

As Mike said; neither Quicken nor Quickbooks will directly help you convert from Quickbooks to Quicken.

I have zero personal knowledge of what third-party Quickbooks software is floating around, but it is theoretically possible that one or more third-party apps exist that might do this or help with the process.

The only other thought I have is: can Quickbooks "export" either data or reports to Excel (or to delimited files, or possibly to the Windows clipboard)? If so, you might be able to take a roundabout route to get some of your data from Quickbooks to Quicken ... though I'm not at all sure it would be worth the work. It would entail converting Excel data to QIF file format and importing to Quicken ... with the devil in the details.

I was afraid of that. Reality is a heck of a concept!

Yes, I've wondered if third party utilities might exist, but so far I've not found any. I do know that the file structure appears quite different. It starts looking like the pain of converting (assuming it can even be done) may be worse than just biting the bullet and paying the extra price for QuickBooks.

One trick I've used in the past for software that doesn't have an export capability is to print detail reports to a PDF file, then either cut & paste or find a PDF to Excel utility. They tend to be a little easier to locate...

YMMV of course.

Thanks, Clarke, that's an interesting suggestion. The fact is, though, that the QuickBooks data has become voluminous after 13 years of business. This even with archiving. :)
