I'm trying to copy transactions from an old Quicken account into a new one. I can export the old checking account to QIF format but Quicken 2005 will not let me import the QIF file into the new checking account. What's the workaround?

When you say old Quicken, I assume you mean an older version.
If the new quicken has a different file name than the old, then I would try opening the old database with the new quicken and let the conversion begin. THen you should be able to export from one database to the other with the new format. If the file names are the same, then you will want to rename the old one.
