Quicken sets up new account

Disable the old Amex account for transaction downloading. Disable the new Amex account for transaction downloading. Next time you try to download, Quicken will ask you to select an account for downloading. Select your old Amex account. You should get a fair bit of older transactions in the bargain as well.

Now if you told us what version of Quicken you were running I might have been able to tell you how to get all the new transactions back in the old register.

As in Premier, Deluxe, or Basic?? Maybe that makes a difference? The OP did say "I'm using Quicken 2005...."

It's at time like this I wished I could blame something other than my poor eyesight in overlooking that you did specify that you were running 2005.

In 2005, you can select all the transactions in an account and move them en masse to a new account. Click on the first transaction in the account, scroll to the bottom and hold down shift while clicking on the last transaction. All the transactions will now be "marked". Right-click in the list and select Move Transaction(s)... or use the Cut/paste feature to cut the transaction from the old register. Then open the new register and right-click in an empty transaction and select Paste.

Just showed up in the mail....I guess from having registered in previous years...I still have to pay for it if I want to use it though....good marketing tool on Intuit's part - contains Deluxe, Premiere and Premiere Home and Business on the CD....
