Correcting incorrect matches

Sep 30, 2006 2 Replies

I've started downloading securities info from my brokerage, Merrill Lynch, into Quicken 2007 Premier.

Because Quicken's database doesn't know much, if anything, about call options, bonds and other non-standard securities, one is forced to guess what the downloads are referring to.

Well, I've matched a couple of items incorrectly and have had placeholders that I need to rid myself of.

what is the process to correct incorrectly match securities?

TIA

First choice: revert to backup.

If that's not possible, I think there is not much you can do except enter any missing transactions manually.

I do not think you will want those placeholders though, so I would delete them before doing anything else (if you enter transactions for those placeholders, dated on or before the placeholder, those transactions will forever be linked to that placeholder - even if you later delete the placeholder - and those transactions will never affect the cash balance in the account. Assuming Q2007 works like previous versions).

That what I figured. I don't have a backup far enough back to do as you suggest.

I've been deleting the placeholders.
