Manually posting prices of Mutual Funds

Recently I added a couple of bond funds to my portfolio. Quicken's data source doesn't appear to have them so there was no quote. Instead of using the purchase price, Quicken Premier 2007 is using a price of $0.00.

I've tried manually updating and that didn't work. I next went into the individual account and manually tried to add the current price. Quicken won't accept the price.

Any work-arounds?

TIA

What EXACTLY did you do to manually update the price?

Also, what it the symbol of the bond fund, as recorded in Q?

What are their names and ticker symbols?

Where are you seeing this, and for what date?

What specific steps did you take to "manually update"?

I can't picture what you did here either. Normally you don't update prices in the investment account (though Quicken will update prices when you enter a transaction involving a price). You normally update prices in either the Security Detail View or the Portfolio tab in the Investing Center.

If you were trying to modify the Buy transaction for a security, you shouldn't really need to do that ... assuming you told Quicken the number of shares you purchased and the total amount you paid for them when you first entered the Buy: Quicken should already have computed the price/share for that transaction. And if there was not already a price in your price history file for that security on that date, then Quicken would have added the price from the Buy transaction to your price history.

I entered all of this yesterday, the 17th and updated these transactions. I made some major changes in the funds that I own. I sold a bunch and replaced with some newer ones.

When I ran the online update, all of the new funds, except for 3 of them didn't update. I see the prices when I look at the individual portfolio account and click on summary, Holdings, Show:value. Each lines of the security shows a variety of info along with the quote price. In the case yesterday, the quote/price box was empty and I couldn't change it. (I attempted to click into it and manually type in the price. This was done around 7:00 PM west coast time.

This morning, after I posted the initial question here, I re-ran the update the prices came thru OK.

The funds in question are: MALOX, PRTNX and PTTAX

It appears all's well at this point. Strange stuff
