I am running Quicken 2004. Only installed it a few months ago when Quicken stopped supporting 2000. My problem: How do I stop the downloading of a year of historical prices for our securities when "Download Quotes" is selected?
At the end of a month we have for years in all the versions of Quicken we have ever had downloaded the last quote of the month on our securities. On earlier versions we used to get only one day of quotes which is all we want. Then I think in version 2000 started getting a week of quotes. Welllll now with 2004 it is bringing in a year of quotes for every security!!!!!
This happens using the following options to download quotes on:
Menu bar: Online > One Step update > the securities we want quotes for are selected, and check ***** only **** "Download Quotes, asset classes, headlines, ....
Investment Center: Selecting the "Download Quotes button" - not the "Download Historical Prices" button on the "Today's Data" and "Portfolio" tabs
Toolbar: clicking "Download Quotes"
Watch List: Options selecting: "Download Quotes" "Download Quotes" button bottom of list
Security Detail View: selecting "Update" button > "Download Quotes"
I can't find a way to turn off the Download of Historical Prices. I have tried "clear All" under the Historical Prices so it won't do any but on exiting and entering the Historical Prices window reverts to allllll the securities are check. I have the field for selecting time range of historical prices set for "month" - which is the least amount listed. Still when those unwanted historical prices come in there are a year of them. 30+/- for the current month and 4 to 6 for the other months back for a ****year****. Everytime we get a year of historical prices for our
50 some securities. We then work thru all the securities and delete a multitude of unwanted quotes. What a pain!!!! It appears the Download Historical Prices has a bad bug in it.
Nowwwwwwww when I do historical prices I only get ***one*** month of prices - not a year. Sooo we are downloading historical prices for a month for all the securities. This means there is only a month of prices to delete in "Price History" instead of a year of prices for 50 some securities.
I've looked at the Preference screens, Help menus, and the Intuit site finding no help for our problem. There has to be a better way. We didn't have this problem with previous versions. Pleaseeeeee.... what am I missing? There must be an option I'm missing somewhere.
