??corrupted register

I am using Quicken 2002 Personal Plus SE. When I go to reconcile my bank statement Quicken tells me that " the total of my previously cleared items in your register no longer matches with the ending balance of your prior statement." The problem is that my statements DO match and when I allowed Quicken to correct the problem my reconciliations no longer work out. I assume there has been a corruption somewhere so I was hoping someone would know what this register file name is and whether it is possible to manually edit it to eliminate this error message, or to do delete it and have quicken replace it (like a template file in Word for e.g.) I can't call Quicken as they no longer support this version (at least in Australia) and their FAQ does not have it in the database.

thank you for any help anyone can offer.

cheers, Roman

I got this very same message again this weekend. First I canceled out of the message (I knew from previous experience that letting Quicken help you resolve the problem is very time consuming, you have to reconcile practically every statement again). This time I discovered that I had deleted one of the reconciled ('R') transactions, which had been replaced with another transaction. I forgot to set the 'R' on the new transaction. Once I did that, this message no longer appeared. I'm not sure if this is your situation.

Dear Steve,

I don't think this is what happened but I could well be wrong. Is there a way to fool quicken into thinking everything balances without changing the entries in the statements which currently balance? cheers, Roman
