E-file for New York State return

Apr 10, 2012 0 Replies

New York State this year requires that if the state return is prepared by tax software it must be sent by e-file or, if mailed there will be a charge. Since for one of our two brokerage accounts we attach a list of each sale and only enter the totals onto Schedule D, is there anyone here from New York who knows what form I send to the state by mail with the list after I e-file the return? Form 8453 is for the federal taxes. Is there a form for state taxes? If not, how do I send the list to the state? Or do I have to submit my state taxes by mail and pay the additional charge?

Thank you. Caryl
