E-mail Boilerplate

I have done up my own invoice template. So far, so good. What I'd like to be able to do is mock up the boilerplate for the e-mail message that gets constructed when I e-mail the invoice. I don't think I'm suing the right keywords in the online help.

TIA

It depends on what version you have of QB. In recent versions, the e-mail template is, I believe, just another template which you would change in the same way as the invoice template. In my version - 2003 Pro UK - you search for the file emailtemplates under QB and open it it NotePad. You can then make the changes you want.

I'm using the Canadian version of QB 2006. In the list of templates, there is no entry for e-mail. I wasn't able to find anything in the directory structure. Would you have a file name I can search?

I thought that in the 2006 versions the e-mail template had gone into the list of templates. The file in my 2003 version is C\Program Files\Intuit\Quickbooks Pro\emailtemplates.

A search of another user group came up with the following by Joey (the technical editor of the Dummies book on QB):

"In the 2006 US version, you can Edit the E-mail cover form by creating the Invoice or Form and checking the To Be E-mailed box so there is one on the List to be sent. Then go to File, Send Forms, Select Forms to Send, and select the Invoice (or whatever). Then, click on the Edit E-Mail and then the Edit Default Text button to make your changes. Then Save."

My QB 2006 doesn't have a To Be E-mailed checkbox, though there is one for To Be Printed.

I did find the emailtemplates file, however. It has three templates in it. I can edit them but I don't know how to choose which QB will use. Any ideas?

Found it! I kept scrolling through everything on templates. Go to Edit->Preferences->Send Forms->Company.
