Edited transfer, now it's subtracted twice

I have a separate deposit and checking account within Quicken. Deposits matching deposit slips are recored in the deposit account and then the balance transferred to the checking accoun leaving zero in the deposit account.

After the last large deposit the bank sent notice that they had found a check for $25 not included on the bank deposit slip, or in my deposit account. So I added that deposit, back dated to match all the others on the deposit slip. And I edited the transfer transaction to match the total amount of the deposit, keeping the original date.

So far so good...on the line where the transfer is recorded the balance is noted as zero.

However, on the NEXT line, after I enter on new deposit with a later date, the balance is equal to the negative of the previous deposit, not even offset by the deposit of $90. On subsequent lines the negative balance is decreased by the amount of each deposit recorded.

Incidentally, it was fixed by simply deleting and reentering the transaction.

But...Any idea what went wrong. Can't one edit a transferred amount without mucking up quicken?
