While entering check data in register, payee field locked up and wouldn't enable any further entry. Instead window message popped up: "Error 701 Call Quick Technical Support". Exited program and did a reboot fixed the problem. But would like to know what is "Error 701" in case it occurs again? (Using Quicken Version 8.0 on Windows 98 DOS ver. 4.10)

I use Quicken 8 release 7 (under Vista/32 and Win7/32) but I never experienced the error. The question is was the error generated by Q8 or by DOS itself ? I think it was a DOS INT call error.
Since both are old and unsupported, we may never know. The important thing is the Quicken data files aren't corrupted and the software still works.
Thanks for your reply, Dave. My Quicken files are NOT corrupted, nor did I have to re-index them, so that's a good thing! It may have been a fluke or perhaps two adjacent keys were pressed simultaneously and the program stacked? I took backups "just in case", but program seems to be working fine after the reboot!
