Error importing from Quicken to Turbotax

I'm trying to import my financial data from Quicken Deluxe 2006 into TurboTax Deluxe 2005. I get this error:

The import value "0/0/0" cannot be imported into "Date sold"

I'm assuming it doesn't like one of my stock sales, but they all have a valid date. Is there anyway to get more info on this error, like some indication of the particular transaction it doesn't like?

If you haven't done so, would suggest you run QW's Capital Gains Report and see if it is picking up an extraneous bit of info.

If you get some info into TTax [Cap Gains], you can then compare with the Cap Gains Rept to see what it doesn't like.

Don't know of any other method to track down the error message.

I had an awful go 'round with that problem a few years back. In the end someone on this newsgroup helped me fix it. The problem was that I had sold out a stock including reinvested dividends. Quicken wanted to know what the cost basis for the dividends was so that the Cap Gain could be computed. To me that sounds reasonable, but the advice (RCWhite, maybe?) sait it all goes on Sch B.

I'm not sure I understood, but I followed the advice and cleared out the problem. But the IRS did come after me for a different year with the same problem.

Note: Quicken does track dividends received. BUT if you reinvest them, there is no category for tracking the purchase.

That sounds likely. I did sell some stock with DRIPs.

Thanks

Not convinced your problem importing into TTax has anything to do with the discussion of reinvested dividends. Have handled securities with reinvested dividends with no problem.

TTax is 'choking' on something; either its' the data coming from QW or TTax itself is not processing the transfered data correctly.

Are you getting any Buy/Sell data into TTax Schedule D?

If so, does it agree with QW's Cap Gains Report?

AHa. I have a money market fund linked to my brokerage account. Any loose cash is swept into it nightly. Q is exporting an old sweep (from April) as if it was a stock purchase with no date sold. It appears the rest of my transactions are showing up on Sched D. I'm printing off my Cap Gains report so I can manually compare it with Sched D.

Thanks

Exactly the kind of problem that turned me off of importing from Q to TT. I found that printing reports and manually entering data was always a better use of my time.....
