If I archive old files, is that data accessed when I do a report--for example, if wanted to see utility bills for 5 years?

how does archiving affect reports?

Quicken only accesses one data file at a time and an archive is independent data file. When you create an archive data file, if you did not ask Quicken to alter the current data file, all of the data should still be present in the original data file.
