Use "re-categorize". :)
Seriously, I suspect that Q99 had the "recategorize" capability, though I can not say that the route would be the same as later versions.
Edit > Find&Replace > Recategorize
Actually, Find/Replace can do the same thing but is much more versatile because it can select transactions on fields other then category.
Edit > Find&Replace > Find/Replace

For what it worth, I have used the following technique in various versions - - - From the category screen, edit the old category and make it a sub-category of the desired category. The delete the old category and it is rolled into the parent to which it is a sub. Jim M.
