How to correctly handle GNMA

Jul 17, 2005 0 Replies

Using Quicken 2005, I have some GNMAs in an investment account.

What is the correct way to handle them? These Ginnie Maes go down in value as time goes by and they pay off their interest and return principal. Yet in my Quicken that is not correctly reflected and they have a wrong "Market Value" that remains close to their original face value, and that is many multiples of what they are really worth now . I looked up how they are presently entered in my account register and they are listed in "Security Edit" as

Type: Bond Mortgage Asset: Class unclassified matched with online security checked.

What do I have to do to make Quicken value them at their real market value? I use update downloads from my financial institution. Is Quicken capable of correctly reflecting the correct market value of Ginnie Maes?

Thanks.
