Importing QIF into 2007 Premier

I know that I can no longer import QIF data into my 2007 checking account.

I pay my bills online thru Merrill Lynch's bill pay service. The data that comes out is a QIF file.

I was under the impression that I could take that data and import it into a cash account and then move them into my checking account.

I ht the button for importing into cash and nothing happens. I've tried to credit a "dummy" cash account for this specific purpose and it doesn't go there either.

Any other suggestions?

TIA

I think the problem is that the qif file you're getting is formatted for investment accounts, and can't be imported to a non-investment account.

See if this helps.

I was able to finally import the QIF data into a "cash" account and then move it into the checking account.

There was one dialog box that was checked by default that I unchecked. The data went in properly and then I could transfer it.

It has come to light that there is an apparent bug in Q2007 that prevents the qif import process from importing withdrawal transactions with when the option for "special handling for transfers" is selected: sounds like that might be what happened with you.

One difference I noticed between your post and the others I saw, was that others said they got the deposit transactions imported, just not the withdrawals. Did your qif file consist of nothing but withdrawal transactions?

It was a series of bills that I did "on line" payment of thru my brokerage/checking account.

The "special handling of transfers" button was turned on. Once turned off, I could import the transactions into a cash account and then physically move them to the checking account. Not elegant but it works.
