Investing Center balances off????

Hi All, I've used Quicken since 1985 or so, mainly as a checkbook balancer. This year I have started downloading charge card accounts and now have tried setting up my brokerage accounts using Q-06 Basic. Credit cards are not a problem, however, with the two brokerage accounts, one with Wachovia and the other with Schwab, I have an inconsistancy. The balance for the Schwab account in the Investing Center is correct. However, the balance for each of the accounts for Wachovia is off by $14 and $10 K respectively. When I click on the Online Center, the accounts agree with Wachovia's web site. I've gone through the transactions and they look correct. The online center does not agree with the account register which is the total market value that shows at the bottom of the register and in the Investing Center column. Any suggestions??? I figure that it must be a simple explaination, something that I'm not doing correctly. Thanks in advance to the group. Best, Bob

One common reason for such discrepancies is future dated transactions or future dated prices. Does your "current balance" equal your "ending balance"? (See the Account List).

Hi John, Yes, the current balance and ending balances are equal for both accounts in the Account List. I have checked the dates of the transactions, and they are all within the month. Weird, huh? When I click on the Online Center, the long (market value of securities held long, equals what Wachovia Website says the account is worth. I have seen the future dating of transactions mess up my checking account balance, but I don't think that is the problem this time. Still at a loss on this. I am also guessing that this would cause an error in net worth also. Thanks for your help. Best, Bob

If you are *just* looking at what the online center shows for Holdings, it should be what Wachovia says you own because the values there are supplied by Wachovia. If you are saying that you do a "Compare To Portfolio" from the Online Center and there is no difference between what Wachovia says and what Quicken says are your holdings (or that the Compare To Portfolio button is greyed out), then I don't know what to tell you.

I would try running an Investment Transaction report and a Portfolio Value report for the account and see if I could find what specific securities were wrong and by how much.

Thanks for the suggestion John, I'll look at it in the next couple of days. Best, Bob

Hi John, Ran the Portfolio and Transaction reports, and found the problem. When I set up the account, one of the investments (Wells Fargo) had two choices for Stock Ticker Symbols and I chose the wrong one, thus the wrong value for the stock transaction. Now the investment center is off a couple of dollars, probably from rounding. Many thanks for the suggestion. You are always so helpful!! Best, Bob
