Loading Quicken 2002

I have a copy of Quicken 2002, it has done me well, and I don't need any new software for my limited uses. I now have a new PC with Windows

7, and cant load Quicken.

The problem lies in the fact that it was an Upgrade, and so was the previous version. The last version which was actually a stand alone one was years ago. I have moved house a number if times and now cant find it. When I try to install 2002 it asks for the previous version to verify.

Does any one know if Is there any work around or am I forced to buy a new version?

Thanks.

It may not matter if you find a copy of 2002 because it probably won't successfully install on windows 7. You *might* be able to get it to install and run under XP Mode (if your computer supports that mode).

You could see if you can find a copy on eBay. There are limited intermediate versions on the Intuit website for upgrading older versions but 2002 is not one that is available.

You could try here:

to see if you can find the appropriate 2002 program.

Further expanding on what Laura said: On ebay you should be able to find cheap new copies of more reent versions of Quicken. Look up which you might like, and check which ones will import a 2002 database. Personally I don't think you can go much wrong with Q2010 - it should install without problems on Win 7, but check whether it imports 2002.

If you can buy a new computer, you can spend an extra $20-30 on a newe version of Q

I think it will; but if it doesn't, you can download a free "trial" version of Q2004 from Intuit, which should bridge the gap.

Any idea as to why there is no free "trial" of 2002 on the Intuit website? I found 2000 & 2003 but no 2002.

It's complete speculation on my part, but I'd guess - that since those "trial" versions are intended only for converting earlier versions - that Intuit doesn't believe that Q2002 has anything to offer for converting earlier versions that the existing "trial" versions don't offer.

Here's a sentence from the kb article on converting from old Quicken versions that might give you an idea what I'm thinking of:

"To convert from Quicken 1 through 5 to a more recent version of Quicken for Windows, use Quicken 6 for Windows".

In that particular case, one version of Quicken is known by Intuit to be able to convert from the 5 previous versions.

Here's a link to the complete kb article:
