Operation Modernisation: complete

Well, that was the first blast through with 2011 I've done since going through my conversion pain. Quicken Deluxe '11 will do me fine as a replacement for Quicken 2002 UK it seems, and all I have to do now is hack out the binary and insert the correct text for.....err.....I mean learn to live with the dodgy spellings of cheque. Yes, that's what I mean. Honest.

Still hoping for a Mac-native version one day, whether of Essentials or a proper Deluxe version. Quicken Essentials for now doesn't make the cut, but it was surprisingly close so I'll be keeping an eye on it. Things that missed this time round were:

a) No calendar view b) Didn't recognise the 'Retirement' option for accounts, so didn't group them on the screen correctly. c) I found actually entering the transactions too tedious - didn't want to click 'New' every time and go through a heavyweight process

I'd -love- to get Essential's Tag Cloud report into Deluxe, but alas it's not currently to be. I tried out innumerable Mac-native alternatives, but iBank was also missing much of the above and the rest failed to import correctly (honourable mention: GnuCash, which -did- import correctly but insists on double-entry accounting which I don't want to use). Moneydance was the closest, but in the end it too had its flaws and I found the visual style quite off-putting.

Thanks to all for the help - I won't be leaving it this late again I think, maybe once every two years or so.

Cheers, Ian
