match a very old check

Someone found a check I'd written more than a year ago and cashed it. It was a present to a child, and I don't mind.

But I could not get quicken to match the posted transaction to the old entry. Manual match appears to only go back a little more than a year in offering choices.

Is there an override I don't know about?

Just curious - I've dealt with this by accepting and editing and voiding the old version.

No.

If the date of the old transaction is the problem, change the date of the old transaction to match the date of the downloaded transaction, Accept the downloaded match; then change the date of the old transaction back to its original date.

Checks are considered stale dated after SIX MONTHS. Why did the financial institution still process the check?

In other words:

4-404. BANK NOT OBLIGED TO PAY CHECK MORE THAN SIX MONTHS OLD.

A bank is under no obligation to a customer having a checking account to pay a check, other than a certified check, which is presented more than six months after its date, but it may charge its customer's account for a payment made thereafter in good faith.
