Quicken shutting down when accepting a transaction

This is my third install of Quicken 2009 Premier. I am using XP Pro with the latest updates. For the third install, I formatted my hard drive and did a new install of the operating system and all programs. Quicken worked for a few days. This morning, while trying to accept a transaction in my checking account, it shut down, immediately. I clicked "accept", and Quicken closed. I tried at least five times, with the same result each time. I was able to accept other transactions in other accounts.

Any ideas?

It may be something wrong with the downloaded transaction that the program can't properly handle. If it were me, I would enter the transaction manually, then delete the downloaded transaction.

I had the same experience a few days ago with my Checking Account with Bank of America. I went through and accepted all my transactions in all other accounts (and other transactions in Bank of America). Finally when I got it down to this one transaction and I had closed and opened Quicken a few times, it accepted. My transaction was an updated to the transaction amount that I made one the Bank of America website.

Thanks. I just figured out that Regions is changing some of the payment dates I made online. I have another one in which Regions is changing the send date. I don't know why. In any case, I can delete the old entry and allow quicken to enter the revised entry as a new entry, and it works fine. It does not give me an option to do anything other than accept. I cannot delete the revised transaction or match the transaction.

Had similar experience. Downloaded a transaction that matched a transaction that I had already entered. Quicken shut down when I tried to accept downloaded transaction. No option to delete downloaded transaction. Deleted the transaction that I had already manually entered. Quicken then accepted downloaded transaction.

Don't believe Quicken Support, they don't have a answer as of 6/14/09.

Here are 2 solutions - not very good solutions, but solutions.

  1. Manually download R5.
    formatting link
is hidden away, but this link will get you there today 6/14/09) Uninstall Quicken Reboot Install Quicken, but DO NOT ACCEPT THE AUTOMATIC UPDATE. Double click on QW09R5Patch.exe Install

DO NOT ACCEPT THE AUTOMATIC UPDATE

  1. Clicking Accept ALL is a workaround - not a very good workaround. You need to make a note of all transactions and manually go into the register and correct any that are wrong.

If you are having other issues with R5, you will have to pick which Revision is best for you.

Edward -

I notice that you are using Regions Bank. So am I. I have done 2 uninstalls and reinstall using the QClean program per Quicken's Customer Support. Now Quicken's Customer Support wants me to create a NEW ADMINISTRATIVE account and install Quicken with R6 to that account. After uninstalling using QClean of course.

What happens if that works, which I doubt it will. I would have to login as a separate user every time I wanted to use Quicken. I think that this is an unacceptable solution. I did not sign on to be a Beta Tester for Quicken.

But seeing that you are using Regions Bank, I wonder if it could be some problem with the Regions Bank interface with Quicken.

I am running R5 with absolutely no problems except for the reminder to update to R6. I will call Regions today and talk with them.

Regions changed the pay date on three of my transactions. When I tried to accept the transactions, Quicken shut down. I had to delete the transaction it was trying to change, then accept and it worked. I asked Regions why they were changing my payment dates and received a reply asking which ones they changed. Seems like something they ought to know.

FYI I am having the exact same problem - also with Regions accounts, transactions with date changes. Please post any updates you find regarding this problem.

Thanks!

Regions changes the date anytime, the date is not a work day. Also, if the payment is going out on a Thursday instead of a Monday, it allows for the 5 working days required.

I am just guessing. But I can get several date changes in a month.
