Q06 H&B: Enter transaction and Quicken closes!

This is a first:

Using XP Home with all updates and patches, Quicken H&B 2006 w/latest update.

I entered a split transaction today into a credit card account and when I clicked Enter, Quicken closed. I reopened Quicken and everything seemed in order. Outlook Express and IE were open at the time.

Anyone else ever have that happen? Any idea what caused that?

John

I have had Quicken close without any warning before, but I can't say I remember it happening when I was entering a split transaction. I have always believed it was caused by corrupted data. Until recently, it always seemed to happen in my test files and I did not worry too much about it.

I now have my regular Quicken data fileset at Intuit data recovery being worked on - one symptom was that clicking on either of a couple of Home page tabs caused Quicken to close without notice.

You can certainly attempt the old standbys; validate (a Quicken copy of your data), and reinstall.

John P.,

A copy of my file validated without errors. I may try a reinstall if this ever happens again. Hmmmm. Odd stuff.

Considering the care you must give to your data and Quicken usage, I'm surprised to hear you've sent your file to Intuit. I'd sure like to hear if you learn anything substantial from them about the cause of the unexpected closings. If you're up to sending a report, my email is firstname at firstnamelastname dot com.

Regards,

John B.

I have no objection to sharing that information ... if I can remember to do it. :)
