Mint: what's with Citibank & INGDirect?

Since Mint merged with Quicken (grin) I thought this was on topic.

I started playing with Mint yesterday, both on PC and iPhone. That is neat of course, that you can acces easily from either. However, I couldn't get my Citibank accounts or my INGDirect account to load into the Mint account. Both keep giving a temporary connection problem error. Apparently Mint knows about this (Mint "community"), but I've seen no solution for these problems. Does anyone have an inkling why this is happening? I had expected problems with Vangurad, because of their more complicated authentication via web, but that and many others went OK.

ING also has a more complicated authentication procedure, at least my account does. I don't know about Citibank. Do you have to enter password/account information in stages with Citibank? I know Quicken handles Vanguard without any problem, but ING causes problems on my computer.

  • Answer as many questions as you put on file when you registered with your bank. * The number of questions you need to answer may be less than the number of form fields displayed on the page. * For some financial institutions, the questions and answers need to be in the exact same order as they are listed on your banking site. * If you?ve forgotten the questions, you can try logging into the online banking at your bank?s website, or calling their online banking support, to retrieve them. * Answers to these questions may be case-sensitive. i.e. ?Dog? will work, while ?dog? will not.

For both Citibank and INGDirect, I had to go through the authentication stuff several times, before the info entered "took", possible because the sequence was different each time I went through this.

I got ING to work n my computer, but it is complicated. I also use a password program so that sometimes complicates things.

Everything seems OK now ...
