Happy with 2002, but computer crashed. Salvaged all data and reinstalling software this morning. Still running XP, but trouble has shown its ugly head. The CD comes up, asks if I want to install, I here the CD going for a moment then nothing. Is there something I need to adjust

It may be an unreadable CD, but, Windows should have reported this fact, so, using windows explorer can you open the CD and see its contents? If you don't see any files or folders you are probably out of luck.
But,if you can see files and folders, locate the setup.exe file and manually start the program. Does the installation startup?
