Q2009 Backup Failure Resets Preferences

Have been a Quicken user for years and am pretty competent. Upgraded to 2009 recently. R3 applied.

Have been backing up (manually) on an external USB drive. Drive is one of those that "sleeps" after not being accessed for a while. Wasn't a real problem with 2007 .. if it took too long to come up Quicken would announce that the backup failed.

Q2009 announces that the backup failed and when the screen paints again, nearly every preference I had changed was reset.

Filename is 7 alpha characters, saving to a folder with 8 alpha character name. Not using "add date" option.

I've changed the manual backup location to my local hard drive instead. (Original data is saved on network so I have updated info in two separate places).

Probably going to leave it as is, but wanted to report this peculiarity in case anyone else is having the same issue. Info has been posted to Quicken Community so (hopefully) someone from Intuit will be aware of it as well. Think of this as more of an "informational" post .. if you're having the problem, you are not alone!

Not up for much troubleshooting it myself right now as I'm in the midst of troubleshooting with an Intuit tech trying to figure out why TTax09 won't update on any of my systems. ; )
