Q2011 Report Question

Is there a way to generate reports for only those transactions that have POS in the Check# column of my checking account register?

I am trying to analyze the use of my debit card.

Not in a simple way: Quicken reports can't select, or subtotal, on Num field values.

I can think of two ways to get a report for specific Num field values.

1.) Create a Banking > Transactions report that includes all the transactions you're interested in and export it to Excel. Make any changes necessary to get the info you want in Excel. 2.) Create a dummy Quicken checking account. Sort your regular Quicken account (the one with the transactions you want to analyze) on the Num field (click in its heading). Select all the transactions you're interested in (as you would select multiple files in Windows Explorer). Go to Edit > Transaction and select "Copy transaction(s)". Open the new dummy Quicken account; go to Edit > Transaction and select "Paste transaction(s)". Use any Quicken report and select just the dummy Quicken account. Delete the transactions from the dummy account when you're finished (select them as you selected the transactions to copy/paste, then Edit > Transaction > Delete).

Thank you very much. I like your #2 solution and will implement it.

Once you have the transactions of interest selected, you might add a new "tag" to them named POSale (or whatever you choose). After that is done, you can always go back and re-analyze the transactions, AND you have a new tag for the future to tag transactions with.
