QP05 Date Ranges

Apr 25, 2005 8 Replies

Quicken doesn't seem to have an automatic date range what says "most recent entire year ending today". YTD means 1/1/05 thru today. Current year means 2005. Last year means 2004. Is there a way to select a rolling full year so that a report will always use it?

Do you mean like the "Last 12 Months"?

Yes. I don't know how I missed that. Thanks, John.

What Q04 YK R2 will not do is remember the last report date, so if you are trying to run off a load of reports for the last financial year (6th April to 5th April here in the UK), you have to set the date each time. A right PITA.

Does Q05 allow better flexibility?

I can't speak for the UK version of Q2004 or Q2005.

In the US, you can set the default date range, and if you want that to be "Last Year", every report will default to Last Year.

You can also memorize that "load of reports", each using "Last Year" then use some other date range as your "default".

Sorry, the term "memorize" has become "save" starting sometime after Q2002. So you can "Save" your load of reports with a date range of "Last Year".

I think what GasMan wants is for the start date of a report to be one day after the end date of the last report -- without manually making any changes to the date range.

Reading his post again, I think you're right. No luck there; not if your financial year does not start on the first of a month. You can have your Quicken fiscal year start in any month you like, but Quicken only works in calendar months.

Not really, just for the last date range to be remembered. We have weird financial dates I know.

I have to create a bunch or reports at year end, the date range has to be the same for all of them, but I have to set the same date range for all of them. Once those reports are created, I do not really have any more use for them. I realise I could memorize/save them, as the accounts/transactions are selective, just the date range has changed, but it seems the Intuit have no idea as to the tax year for the UK.

Another nice feature I noticed that they have removed is the account name in scheduled transactions/standing orders. I just had the need to swap payments on a credit card and wanted to see where I had set up regular payments on that card. In Q98 it would be easy as the account name is shown. In Q04 it is not, thus I had to go thru the whole register for that account, inspecting transactions.
