Copy and Year End copy Issues

Hi Folks,

I'm running Quicken H&B 2006.

I've run into an issue with both a simple Qdata file copy and a Year End copy of the same file.

The earliest transaction date in this file is February 2001.

If I do a simple Copy and select a date range of any particular length Quicken ignores the selected date range and copies the whole file.

Same thing with year end copy. It archives all transactions thru 12/31/2005 but they're still in the current file along with the 2006 transactions.

I've RTFM and the help files and I seem to be following the proscribed steps. I've also looked at the Intuit user forums Any advice appreciated

Hi Folks,

I'm running Quicken H&B 2006.

I've run into an issue with both a simple Qdata file copy and a Year End copy of the same file.

The earliest transaction date in this file is February 2001 and over the years we've upgraded from Q 2001 to Q H&B 2003 and on to the current version This is the first time I've attempted either a copy or year end copy operation..

I've also looked at the Intuit user forums and it seems a number of folks have had issues with this but answers seem to be in short supply.

It's such a basic operation that I'm sure it's operator error and not a program bug.

Any advice appreciated

Works for me (File > File Operations > Copy).

Speaking for the straight Quicken "Copy"; I think you should take a look at the two check boxes below the From/To dates in the "Copy File" dialog box.

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply.

I had been filling in those two check boxes below the From / To dates but I had clicked on OK while the To date was still highlighted in blue.

The straight Quicken copy is working fine now.

But the Year End Copy still doesn't work as I think it's supposed to.

The year-end copy *does not* work as one might think. Somewhere around about 2004 Intuit changed it. It makes the year-end copy, but does not delete the records from the file. You need to do a Copy to delete the records.
