Checking investment account containing stock splits

QP05 produces nice listing of transactions with prices you would find if you looked up the stock in old newspaper listings. Thus, stock splits will appear explicitly.

If you export to .QIF, the splits are removed and the number of shares adjusted back through history as appropriate. QIF makes it easier to import to Excel for checking, etc. (I'm trying to verify the Cost Basis.)

Is there a way to tell QP05 to display the adjusted number of shares with no StkSplit events? And, how can I get a share balance vs time table for each security in an account?

I don't understand. Quicken exports the same transactions to a QIF file that it lists in the Investment Transaction report.

In certain Quicken investment reports (such as Investment Transactions, Investment Income), you can exclude stock splits: on the Actions tab in the Customize dialog, uncheck Stock Splits, but those reports don't show share totals. (I have submitted several product suggestions to Intuit asking to have the Investment Transactions report show sub-totals of number of shares where appropriate ... so far, with no success).

You could make a copy of your Quicken data fileset for testing, then actually delete the stock split transactions from the test copy and run what reports you like.

No normal report/graph I know of will do this. Since I do not understand just what you are trying to accomplish, I am not sure this will help. But one way to get Quicken reports/graphs to track number of shares would be to have all securities priced at $1, then "value" fluctuations would really be "share" fluctuations as well.

For testing, you could make a copy of your Quicken data fileset, purge its price history file (.qph), enter a single $1 price record for each of your securities, dated on or before the earliest transaction for that security, then run some Quicken reports like Portfolio Value & Cost Basis. The shortest time span I know of in such reports is one week (the Portfolio Value & Cost Basis report allows a one week interval). You also have to remember that Quicken can only create reports with 100 columns, so you can't take a weekly interval back very far in time in a single iteration of a report.

Yes it does. Do you think that I wrote that and did not test before I wrote it? The split transaction is in the QIF file; and the original transactions match the Investment report. I have an Investment Transaction report from an account with a split transaction and a QIF file that match exactly.

And who is it that defines "basic functionality"? Are you seriously claiming that you are the person to make such a definition? How much would others, with different definitions of "basic functionality" have to pay to provide you with you "basic functionality" while they did without theirs?

It appears that you are not trying to solve a problem; but looking for a "bitching post". I have no interest in helping you find that.
