I've noticed lately that after using OSU in Q11 early in the day and leaving Q open all day, clicking OSU does nothing on subsequent tries later. I can do a couple back to back, but if I let much time elapse between tries (not sure how much time exactly--hours I think), absolutely nothing happens the next time. I have to close Q and restart and then everything works normally. Has anyone else experienced this. I wish I could tell you whether everything in Q is locked at this point, but I forgot to note what else I tried : {

Quicken appears to be what used to be and may still be called a "direct access" file. IOW, I think when you open Quicken, you are working with the actual data file, not a temporary copy such as with MS Word or MS Excel - notice there is no Undo command and no Save command (only a "Save a Copy as). For that reason alone I always have made a backup to a removable HD after entering or downloading transactions or reconciling accounts. I also do not leave Quicken open once I have finished the current activity - bad things can happen while the computer does other things. To me it's a small effort to have to reenter the file password each time I open it in exchange for better safety of my data.
I do not know if there is some sort of timeout for OSU. I do know that if you do a backup and then try to do OSU you have to re-enter the account passwords or the vault password.
This doesn't answer your specific question, but take it or leave it as you will.
