Quicken 2005 Setup Issues

I used Quicken 2004 Deluxe for about a year and liked it well enough until my data files got corrupted, so I switched to Money and although I didn't like the interface as much, it was usable for the basic stuff I do (track spending and online bill tracking/payments).

I recently switched to the Mac, which comes with Quicken 2005. I'm having trouble setting up my checking account. I have an amex acct, a heloc, and a regular line of credit account and those accounts were easily setup and downloaded just fine using the automatic quicken setup (just give the account a name, enter the user id/pin and quicken connects and does the remaining setup and d/l's the transaction data). However for my checking account the strangest thing is happening -

once it connects to my bank, it automatically downloads the last 18 months of transactions (approximately) and up until August of this year it doesn't list any of my deposits. Just debits/payments. So of course my account balance is WAY negative. I tried deleting all of the transactions up until August of this year and then enter in a small adjustment to balance the account, but then the next time I do an online update quicken just downloads all of the old data again. It's driving me crazy. I'm clearly not well-versed on Quicken (or Money, for that matter), but I never had this problem before with Quicken 2004 or Money

2005 on the PC.

I just received my latest paper bank statement, so the next thing I'm going to try, unless I receive some advice/solutions on this NG, is to do a complete manual setup of my checking account and then try a download and hope it doesn't bring back all of the old transactions. What am I doing wrong?!? The other accounts, including the other 2 accounts from the same bank, are setup and working fine!

TIA,
