Quicken 2009 on Multi-Core PC

Does anyone know if Quicken 2009 takes advantage of multi-core CPUs?

I notice that one-step update doesn't take over Q'09 like it did Q'06

- it's still possible to move around (in between progress bar popups). I'm wondering if this will be more responsive on a multi-core.

It does appear to take advantage of multiple processors.

Using 2009 Deluxe with WinXP Pro SP3 on a home built duoIntel machine.

Walt:

I'm running Q2009 H&B on a quad-core 64-bit. I can do other things while One Step Update or Scheduled Update is running.

When I do a Validate or a Super Validate, though, nothing else responds till Quicken is finished :-(

I noticed that on my single processor machine. It's nice (although if it takes more than one click to do the other thing, you need to get it in between accounts because the progress bars clear the popup menus).

Thanks, John.

I did upgrade to a quad core machine, and can report that Q'09 very much uses all those cores.

The nifty and free Multiple Processor Monitor from Yahoo Widgets (

) showsall cores running when Quicken is loaded down and nothing else isrunning.

Nice, but can't you get all this information with the Task Manager?

Yes, although I didn't know that at the time. And if you're only interested in the processor load and want to see it most of the time, this is cosmetically nicer.
