Thanks.
If you do a second backup of the same file to the same backup folder, do you get the option to overwrite the first backup? If so, is there an option to allow the overwrite without displaying a warning?
John: No, I don't get a warning or an option to overwrite. The 2nd manual backup of the day ends up as Bob-1.QDF-backup. Bob
Yes, sorry, it's still an option. I've used the append date option since it became available, so I didn't think to mention it can be turned off!

Margaret
Nuts.
Thanks.
John:
As a matter of fact, today's manual backup ends up being Bob-1.QDF-backup also. So, it looks like we have to delete ALL backups to get JUST the file name without the -x.

And no way to get a backup without the "-backup", right?
Intuit is trying to "help". To help those who "can't" manage their own backups ... by making it more difficult for those who can.
Thanks again.
John:
That's correct, the "-backup" is hard-coded.

There is no more Quicken Basic; perhaps that helps explain why some folks feel the deals aren't as good as they used to be.
Also, to add to my previous post, if I do not upgrade to Quicken 2010 and stay with QBasic 2007, will 2007 work with Windows 7? Thanks again.
Yes, according to
Besides, Quicken 2009 definitely runs on Windows 7, and I can't imagine that Intuit, or anyone else, would release a new version of a product that didn't.
OK THANKS!
You're welcome. Glad to help.
Running W7 Enterprise version and it does run without complaint.
If you are registered with Intuit you will eventually receive a notice about their online download support policy. Here is a link to the information that applied to Q2006 users and prior version back to Quicken 98.

An important point to note is that Win7 is essentially Vista 1.1. Vista (Win 6.0) got such a bad rap that they did a full number increment to hide the relationsihp (I've personally had NO problems with Vista other than poor HP printer drivers for an older OfficeJet). In reality, it should have been like XP (Win 5.1) from Win2K (Win 5.0).
FWIW..Installed Q2010 Deluxe on Win7 64b RC last night without issue. Imported my 2009 H&B file and the Deluxe version "noted" that it could not import the Business portion of my file. No entries for H&B anyway since I am using Qbooks09. New look, will take some time to get used to....
