Quicken 2018 Deluxe Update

Running Quicken 2018 Deluxe, when I do a One Step Update, I get the message "A free update to Quicken is available." I click "Download Update..." It does an automatic backup. In the update Windows that then appears, it tells me I'm running R14.23 and the latest version is R14.27. I click "Update" and I get the message

"An error occurred

quickenPatch needs administrative privileges to update Quicken. You can do this in either of two ways:

  1. When prompted, enter an administrator's username and password.

  1. In Windows Explorer right click quickenPatch.exe and click "Run as Administrator."

Since I am never prompted, I can't do number 1, so I tried number 2. quickenpatch.exe was in c:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken, so I went there and did as the message said. I then get the message

"An error occurred

Unable to check for updates, the server file failed to load."

Am I doing something wrong, or is something wrong with the update? What should I do now?
