Quicken report-detailed balances and income

I'm not sure why it's not evident to me how to do this (this data is so fundamental to any investor), but I'm having some difficulty getting the following data:

I need, for each investment in each account, (1) the current net worth of that investment and (2) the income that investment has generated in the last 12 months. I am thinking of

I, of course, have (1) in my Net Worth report, but how to get (2) is eluding me. I'd be happy with two separate reports, or ecstatic if there were a way to get them together on the same report.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! And THANKS in advance.

interesting.... The Balance/Net Worth is of course displayed in a variety of places.

The "Income" is another story... For seems to me, it would be the accumulation over a fixed period of time of the various types of income transactions.

It would be the earnings from - dividends and interest, but don't think that any kind of total is maintained, since it would be depending upon your question over what period of time.

Er ... how about the 'Investment Income' report under "Investing" Reports?

Interesting.... have never really looked at this report. Will be curious to see how the numbers compare to our 1099s for last year. It's always fun to see how various transactions get "categorized".

- DivIncome

- LT cap gain

- ST cap gain

- Realized Gain

Brought up the report - Investment Income - used Last Year and sub-tot by Account Compared to my 1099 from Schwab

BTW - since this is "Investment Income", nothing from the Quicken "Banking" area will show up or be included... ie - checking, savings, MM, CD, etc -

One issue I noticed

- the comparison of what Quicken shows for the amount vs the IRS 1099 handling of the amount.

Quicken only knows it was a "div", but not how the IRS will treat it. In my case, looking at my 1099 from Schwab, there were a couple of breakdowns for the divs....

- Ordinary - qualified vs non-qualified

Also, some of my cap gains were sub-totalled by asset class

- Collectibles - 28% rate on gold and other similar items

- Special - 15% cap gain rate

just as a different sub-thread -> BANKING INCOME

again, for me, this was an interesting report.

-> Banking Summary - used Last Year and sub-tot by Account

I actually went back, and re-categorized some transactions so they made more sense...

How about a simple portfolio view that includes Market Value and Income col umns. Set the portfolio options preferences to show return calculations fr om a date of 1-year-ago. You'll need to correct the date each time and be aware of its impact on other portfolio views you have set up. Double check that the Income column presents all the income you want.

As I looked into this matter further, I found on the main Quicken screen, underneath the toolbar, a black bar that included "INVESTMENTS". When I clicked on it, selected "Show Income" and "Grouped by Accounts" , it gave me an opportunity to view Market Value and estimated Income for each holding in each account.

Is there a problem in using these numbers to get the details I'm looking for?
