Why does the Net Worth Report show negative balances in investment accounts that have a zero balance

Regarding the problem noted in the discussion title: While the original poster does not provide quite enough information for me to be 100% certain, this problem sounds exactly like the Quicken bug that has been present for well over a decade (I see it as far back as Q2004).

The problem affects both the Net Worth and Account Balances report.

And the non-zero balances are not always negative, they are sometimes positive.

But in my experience, those incorrect non-zero balances are all tiny; in 99.9% of the cases I have seen, those balances were all less than $1.00, and none rose to the level of being significant.

Also, the incorrect non-zero balances only appear when the reports have been customized to display an "Interval" (such as "Month"). When Interval is none, the account balances do not exhibit the problem.

While annoying, the problem should not inhibit anyone from being able to determine their net worth.
